The centenary stand at Haydock Park Racecourse has a clean and bright new look thanks to the high performance and low maintenance qualities of Johnstone�s Self Cleaning Masonry paint.

The Merseyside racecourse has redecorated the entrance to its centenary stand after years of weathering had left it looking worn and tired. Decorating company Premier Decorators worked alongside Johnstone’s technical team to specify a product that offered a low maintenance solution and guaranteed to keep the exterior looking cleaner for longer.

With a 15-year life expectancy, Johnstone’s Self Cleaning Masonry paint resists the dulling effects of pollution and weathering. Significantly reducing maintenance requirements, the paint’s self-cleaning properties ensure that, after just one application, a building’s exterior retains its aesthetic appeal for longer without the need to be repainted or cleaned.

The new exterior coating features microscopic nano particles, which at one billionth of a metre are invisible to the human eye. These tiny particles adhere to the surface, transforming the normal crater effect of a painted surface into an extremely smooth finish to which dust and dirt simply cannot adhere.

As well as utilising the very latest technology, the nanometric painting system also harnesses a more natural force – rain. Whereas most standard masonry products repel water, Johnstone’s Stormshield Self Cleaning Masonry works in the opposite way as it actually attracts water to its surface. Any dirt particles that may be present will therefore be simply washed away by the rain to leave a streak-free finish.
