Leading coatings manufacturer Johnstone�s is proving it can go the distance following the specification of its Opaque Wood Finish as part of an ambitious project to complete the redecoration of wooden fencing surrounding over 8,000 properties across the Wirral.

Wirral Partnership Homes (WPH) awarded its prestigious cyclical repair and re-paint contract to Liverpool based, professional painting and decorating contractor George Jones & Son. Using Johnstone’s Opaque Wood Finish, supplied by Johnstone’s Decorating Centre in Birkenhead, George Jones & Son will undertake the redecoration of the miles of wooden fencing alongside WPH’s Building Services team.

Having specified a competitor brand for a number of years, WPH was keen to find an alternative product that was better suited to reducing maintenance programmes by offering a longer lasting and fade-resistant finish. As Johnstone’s Opaque Wood Finish is water repellent, resistant to UV attack and gives wood an attractive satin opaque appearance, it is proving to be the ideal product for such a demanding project.

Brian Croft, WPH Investment Programme Manager explains further: “For such an extensive redecoration programme, it was vital WPH used a product that not only dramatically improved the appearance of wooden fencing but that also helped to minimise future maintenance requirements and costs. Johnstone’s were extremely helpful throughout the specification process and now that the work is underway, we can really see the difference and are extremely pleased with the results so far”.
